The first group of employees for AIT Laboratories will begin moving into the company’s new corporate headquarters on the northwest side of Indianapolis on Friday, June 10 at 8 a.m. The employee-owned company, which specializes in compliance monitoring, forensics, clinical, and pharmaceutical testing, announced on June 17, 2010, that it had invested $74 million to acquire and equip a new corporate headquarters at 7820 Innovation Blvd.
“It is very exciting to see all of the hard work of our employees paying off as we begin this new chapter of growth in the company’s history,” said AIT President and CEO Michael A. Evans, Ph.D. “When I started the company in 1990, AIT had five employees, and today we have nearly 500 nationwide.”
The growing life sciences company, which has seen at least double-digit revenue growth for the past six years, will move its business operations (marketing, human capital, billing, finance, client services, etc.) into the new building over the next month. About 100 employees will occupy the office building initially. AIT expects to build its new toxicology laboratory behind the existing 90,000-square-foot office building over the next two years. The company will then move the rest of its employees to the new location. In the meantime, AIT’s laboratory, serving its compliance monitoring, forensics, and clinical clients, will remain on the city’s southwest side in Park Fletcher at 2265 Executive Drive.
“Moving a laboratory is a difficult process and one that takes time,” said Evans. “We want to continue to provide the highest quality of testing and service to our clients, so moving a laboratory is something that requires a lot of planning and execution to ensure a smooth transition for our clients.”
AIT is leasing office space on the second floor of the new headquarters building until it needs it. Current tenants include Marian University.
